Hurt as a motorcycle passenger
A passenger usually did nothing to cause the crash. That can make a passenger’s claim stronger.

Who a passenger can claim against
| If the crash was caused by… | Possible claim |
|---|---|
| Another driver | That driver’s liability insurance |
| The person driving your motorcycle | The operator’s motorcycle liability coverage, if any |
| Both | Claims against both, with fault divided between them |
| A driver with no or too little insurance | Uninsured motorist coverage on the bike or on your own household auto policy |
When the rider is your spouse, partner or friend
Making a claim against someone you care about can feel wrong. In most cases you are claiming against their insurance coverage, not taking money from them personally. We handle it with care.
Helmets
Georgia’s helmet law applies to passengers too. Not wearing one doesn’t automatically end a claim.
Passenger safety rules
A motorcycle carrying a passenger generally needs a proper passenger seat and footrests.
